CORTIPAN - Chipboard cork for thermal acoustic insulation.

Born of the need to recycle the scraps of cork, cortipan has been affirmed as the best natural insulation currently used in the construction sector. Through processes of grinding and cleaning properly staged, the cork grains are pressed and agglomerated at 270 degrees centigrade. This system allows the cork cells to retain all their characteristics (living cells filled with air that allow the replacement of volume, after being pressed, thus making it indestructible), and making of it the best natural insulator around the world.

According to rigorous tests carried out in Lisbon by LNEC (National Laboratory of Civil Engineering) cortipan is the best acoustic absorbent, with an absorption factor of 0.65 - 0.85 according to EN ISO 20354:1993. Classified in the group M2 as far as fire reaction is concerned, there is evidence that it is a non-chemical insulator, which consequently retards the development of flames - Rule LNEC E 367.

Classified in the NP EN 1602:1998 with a volume of 160 – 180 Kgs/m3 it has a density variation of 1% in stability, thus following the parameters of ISO 8301:1991 with a thermal conductivity coefficient ranging from 0.043 to 0.47 º W / C.This means that it is a good thermal insulator (either for cold or heat) being also an excellent absorbent of damp (0.40 – 0.50 Kgs of water/m3). It is undoubtedly, the best material against damp.

According to our technical register, the use of Cortipan between walls has been considered the best thermal and acoustic process of insulation between the rooms of the same apartment and almost 100% efficient between different apartments and hotel rooms.

Obviously that we are referring to a NATURAL and biodegradable insulator.
