Company
Dinis Oliveira & Filhos, S.A. was established in 1987 as a joint-stock trading. Its founder, Mr Dimas Dinis Alves had already had an enormous experience in the sector, as the company was the result of the separation of another cork company that he had with his brother, and which was established in 1953. Its main business was the preparation of cork, the production of stoppers and natural cork sheets.
Dinis Oliveira & Filhos, Lda continued with the production of sheets and started the granulated products activity. Brazil, Mexico and Argentina started to be the main markets.
In the mid-90’s, the company put an end to the production of natural cork sheets and increased the production of granulates /broken.
In 2001 the social pact of the company turned into an anonymous society, the social capital was increased and the production of agglomerated tiles was started.
Recently (December 2008) the social capital was raised again and now the company dedicates itself to the production of broken, granulated and agglomerated tiles (Cortipan).
Besides all the products here produced, the company sells rolls and agglomerated cork blocks, produced externally, but with granulates supplied by the company.
The different products of the company are used not only in the production of gaskets (prepared cork / crushed / granulated), but also in the construction and car industry, as well as other areas. For example, in the production of concrete (crushed (broken ) / pellets), for thermal and acoustic insulation (cluster plates (cortipan)) for different coatings / panels (rolls of agglomerated cork) and the manufacture of gaskets for cars (granulates / blocks of agglomerated cork).
Nowadays insulation and coating are the main business areas. The company has as main directors Mrs. Rosa Maria Alves, B.A. and Mr. Dimas Manuel Alves, Mr. Dimas Dinis Alves' heirs, who have been trying to improve the company´s performance as well as its entrance in new markets. They pay special attention to the development of the competences of their collaborators/co-workers and promote a good knowledge in areas like Marketing, Human Resources and Quality/Quality Control
